People Are Weird!
We had a bit of a scare at the office today, when a shorted circuit in the elevator and the resulting puff of smoke tripped the fire alarms in our building. Firemen arrived on site mere minutes after we had evacuated the office and promptly proceeded to secure the building and rescue our colleague from being trapped in the now dysfunctional elevator.
Now comes the weird part: in spite of the fire truck parked in front of the building and the alarms buzzing and the lights flashing and the firemen attacking the elevator door with crowbars and the distraught onlookers, people kept coming into the bank below our office expecting it to be open for business as usual. The absence of big billowing clouds of black smoke alone must have been enough to make these people believe that everything inside was just peachy.
Huh?
